NEWS DIMADURA, SUMENEP – The Sumenep Regency Government, East Java, continues to enhance its tourism potential. One of its major promotional initiatives is the Slopeng Carnival investment project, an additional entertainment attraction in the Slopeng Beach area.
Additionally, the Sumenep Regency Government is offering investment opportunities for the Sumenep Beach Water Sport and Slopeng Beach Flying Fox, aimed at boosting tourism appeal.
Herman Hariyanto, Head of Investment at the Sumenep Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP), stated that the development of Slopeng Carnival is part of the government’s strategy to attract investors.
“On the southern side of the beach, across the road, there is 1.5 hectares of government-owned land that we plan to develop. Currently, the area is occupied by small businesses selling traditional foods like rujak, coconut ice, and soto. Later, we will develop it further. But as of now, no investors have placed bids for the project,” Herman told this media on Monday (February 24, 2025).
He assured that the project would not displace the small businesses already operating in Slopeng. Instead, Slopeng Carnival is designed to enrich the atmosphere with more engaging entertainment concepts.
“We will not disrupt what is already established there; instead, we will enhance it with a new entertainment project,” he added.
Beyond Slopeng Carnival, Sumenep is also developing the Sumenep Beach Water Sport, which will introduce various water sports attractions at Slopeng Beach and Lombang Beach. Additionally, visitors will be able to experience flying across the coastline with the Slopeng Beach Flying Fox.
“We are also proposing a Flying Fox attraction that will stretch over the beach. Its landing point could be on the eastern side of Slopeng or even in the middle of the beach if visitors want to stop there,” Herman explained.
Furthermore, the Sumenep Regency Government is planning to develop a camping and outbound area on the eastern side of Slopeng Beach. This initiative is supported by the Department of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Tourism (Disbudporapar) to create a more integrated tourism service.
This investment opportunity is open to both domestic and international investors who wish to contribute to Sumenep’s tourism sector development.
The local government has already prepared various supporting documents and well-planned concepts to facilitate investors.
“We have structured everything so that investors will find it easier with the concepts we have designed,” he emphasized.
